Kennedy reaches 200 Ks, leads Padres to 8-2 win
Ian Kennedy reached the 200-strikeout plateau for the first time, joining three other pitchers who did it while pitching for the San Diego Padres. Kennedy and three relievers combined on a six-hitter to win 8-2 Sunday against the reeling San Francisco Giants, who fell 4 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West race. Kennedy struck out five, giving him 201 for the season. They were very aggressive early on.'' He joins Kevin Brown (257, 1998), Jake Peavy (240 in 2007, 216 in 2005 and 215 in 2006) and Clay Kirby (215, 1971).
