When Fred Claire became the Dodgers' general manager in April 1987, he inherited a farm director, William Schweppe, and a scouting director, Ben Wade, who had been with the team in some capacity since it moved to Los Angeles from Brooklyn.Along with team president Peter O'Malley, that was the Dodgers' front office.
