It isn't as if Jon Garland was going to anchor the Los Angeles Dodgers starting staff, but losing him for 4-6 weeks could hurt the Blue Crew. Garland was signed to a one-year deal in the off-season after pitching well for the San Diego Padres in 2010. Garland was slated to most likely be the fifth pitcher in the rotation, which means that Los Angeles did not plan on him being a top pitcher. However, losing both Garland and Vicente Padilla for a time makes for a very thin pitching staff that will need to rely on rookies or last-minute free agents.
