After Shohei Ohtani homered to open the sixth inning — tying Duke Snider and Pedro Guerrero for most home runs in a month by a Dodger, with 15 — Teoscar Hernández and Will Smith both singled to give the Dodgers runners on first and second base with nobody out. Thanks to run-scoring hits by Freddie Freeman and Andy Pages, plus a bases-loaded walk by Michael Conforto, the Dodgers scored three runs in the remainder of the sixth to take a lead they did not relinquish.
