How committed were the Blue Jays to having J.P. Arencibia behindthe plate as they move towards their contending years? Consider that as late as Dec. 1, according to recent L.A. newsreports, catcher Rod Barajas said he had reached a verbal agreementwith Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos to rejoinhis former team for 2011. The Dodgers, however, came in with a lateoffer, and Barajas decided he'd prefer staying close to home forsimilar money. It was around that time that the Jays began to strongly indicate tofans and media that Arencibia was the anointed one behind theplate. But if Barajas had joined the Jays it would have been as astarter, with Jose Molina already under contract as a veteranbackup. Where would that have left Arencibia?
