LOS ANGELES - The Dodgers' prospects of improving onlast year's 80-82 record rest largely with the team's ability toshow it is better than that record - something new manager DonMattingly strongly believes, despite the team's second-halftailspin in 2010. "I know everybody's talking about the offense," Mattingly said,"but that was half a season that didn't go good, and to me, itdidn't have anything to do with their ability. The season before,we led the league in hitting, (and were) close to leading theleague in runs. The year before that, (we were) close to leadingthe league in a lot of areas."
