Fernando Valenzuela threw out the ceremonial first pitch, a stealth bomber flyover accompanied Placido Domingo's national anthem, there were doves and fireworks and Clayton Kershaw hurled a gem - outdueling Tim Lincecum - by striking out nine in seven scoreless innings as the Dodgers beat the Giants 2-1 on Opening Day on Thursday at sold out Dodger Stadium.
