Mike Piazza's 57.8 percent of the electorate left him 98 votes shy of the 75 percent required for induction in his first year on the National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot. But a year after Hall voters did not elect a single new member for the first time in nearly two decades, Piazza has as good a chance as anyone to crack the ice this winter.
