This comedy of errors will be remembered for all time. The first-place Los Angeles Dodgers looked like a last-place Little League team against the San Diego Padres in the sixth inning Monday night. Like a barnyard of panicked chickens playing defense with their heads cut off, the Dodgers hilariously committed three throwing errors on one play, allowing two runners to score, after Rene Rivera hit a harmless-looking fly ball to center for the second out of the inning. In trying to double-up Rymer Liriano at first base after catching Rivera's fly ball, outfielder Yasiel Puig double-clutched and threw wildly to Adrian Gonzalez for an error that bounced off the screen of the Dodgers dugout. Before you could say, "That's so Puig," Liriano broke for second and Yangervis Solarte, who was on second, broke for third. And the fun was only starting. Catcher A.J. Ellis picked up the Puig ricochet after getting a favorable bounce, but his throw to second eluded Dee Gordon for a second error and rolled into shallow center field — where shortstop Hanley Ramirez had been after pursuing Rivera's pop up.
