The script was straight out of Hollywood. With the Los Angeles Dodgers one win away from clinching a second straight NL West championship, two-time Cy Young award winner Clayton Kershaw took his turn in the rotation with eye toward sealing the deal in front of the home fans against the Dodgers oldest rivals, the second-place San Francisco Giants. Kershaw not only accepted the challenge, he owned it, leading the Dodgers to an 9-1 victory with one of his best all-around performances to date. Naturally, the focus with Kershaw is pitching, because he's the very best on the planet at performing that task. He was predictably very good, though maybe not quite up to his usual standard, which is obviously very high.
