LaTroy Hawkins' 21st major league season will also be last, the soon-to-be 42-year-old pitcher revealed Friday during an interview on MLB Network's Hot Stove talk show. "Next Sunday, I'll be 42 and 2015 will be my last year playing professional baseball, Hawkins told Harold Reynolds and Fran Charles. "Hopefully not my last year of professional baseball, but it'll be my last year playing professional baseball." Hawkins, who served as the Colorado Rockes closer in 2014, will enter his final season with exactly 1,000 appearances under his belt. He became only the 16th pitcher in MLB history to reach that milestone on Sept. 27 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, which speaks to his remarkable durability and dependability over the years. Hawkins actually began as a starting pitcher with the Minnesota Twins all the way back in 1995. In his first five seasons, 98 of Hawkins' first 99 appearances were starts.
