J.P. Howell doesn’t expect Andrew Friedman will move quickly to acquire closer
GLENDALE, Ariz. >> Dodgers pitcher J.P. Howell probably knows president Andrew Friedman better than anyone in the clubhouse. Friedman traded for Howell nine years ago when he was with the Tampa Bay Rays, re-signed him in 2010, then let him walk in free agency two years later. So when Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen had surgery to remove a growth from his left foot, sidelining him for up to the first month of the regular season, Howell had an inkling how Friedman would react to the situation.
