Having no doubt seen the San Diego Padres ball girl make headlines last week for a fantastic catch on a foul ball , the Los Angeles Dodgers ball boy tried to level up on Sunday and make an even better catch. It didn't end well. The ball boy played this one like he was an outfielder trying to reach over the wall to steal a homer. Full extension ... but both he and the ball went over the wall. Oof. He tumbled into the stands while a couple of kind Dodgers fans came to help him. [ Play a Daily Fantasy contest for cash today! ] Clearly embarrassed, the ball boy got up and rushed back to his spot with his head down. He made the highlights, just not for the reason he was hoping. The crowd did give him a nice applause, though we're unsure if it was an earnest appreciation for his effort or more like when people clap at a restaurant when someone breaks a glass.
