Kazmir looks to spoil MLB debut of Cards’ Mayers

The Cardinals knew Wednesday's doubleheader would throw a wrinkle in their rotation four days later since they preferred not to start Carlos Martinez on short rest. They decided to call up Mike Mayers from Triple-A Memphis for a spot-start, which will be his Major League debut. The Dodgers will turn to Scott Kazmir as the teams meet in the series finale on Sunday night at Busch Stadium.
