Jerry Krause made his name in the NBA as the general manager of a Chicago Bulls franchise that won six championships. It was no surprise to longtime baseball executive Mel Didier, who worked with Krause to scout future NL Most Valuable Player Award winner Kirk Gibson when both men worked for the Seattle Mariners in 1978.
