Left-handed hurler Sean Newcomb came agonizingly close to becoming just the third Atlanta Braves pitcher to toss a no-hitter on Sunday. With two outs in the ninth inning, Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Chris Taylor was down to his last strike when he cracked a 94 mph (151 Km/h) fastball from Newcomb past diving third baseman Johan Carmargo. It was the only hit off Newcomb in the Braves' 4-1 victory.
