Pete Alonso of the New York Mets smacked his 26th homer on Saturday to set a record for most homers by a National League rookie prior to the All-Star break. Alonso hit a solo blast in the first inning off Chicago Cubs left-hander Jose Quintana to erase the mark of 25 set in 2017 by Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Alonso's homer also matches the Mets' single-season record for a rookie.
