The St Louis Cardinals seem to have wanted to do more at the trade deadline, but were left with a "high level of frustration". St Louis inquired about multiple starting pitchers, including Zack Wheeler, Robbie Ray and Mike Minor, according to the St Louis Post-Dispatch. But, the team ended up making just one deal – sending Jedd Gyorko to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for reliever Tony Cingrani and a minor leaguer.
