LOS ANGELES -- Clayton Kershaw played catch Friday and told Dodgers manager Don Mattingly he no longer feels any pain in his upper back. That doesn't mean Kershaw will pitch Sunday in San Diego, the Dodgers' domestic opener. That has been ruled out. But it does mean the lefthander has a good chance of pitching next Friday at Dodger Stadium, the team's home opener. If Kershaw can't pitch, Mattingly said his replacement might be Josh Beckett, who is eligible to come off the disabled list that day.
