SAN FRANCISCO -- The Los Angeles Dodgers left their rival's stadium less than 24 hours earlier having taken their worst beating in nearly four months and having lost one of their best starting pitchers, perhaps for the remainder of the season. They weren't exactly on an emotional high when Saturday dawned. Their manager, Don Mattingly, spent part of his pregame talk focusing on Hyun-Jin Ryu's doctor visit and scheduled MRI. Those aren't exactly uplifting topics, not for a team built on starting pitching.
